Great Start to Readiness Program

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free PreK program for eligible four-year-olds. Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond.

Interested in applying?

This application is for the 2026–2027 school year. Please note that completing the application does not guarantee placement in a preschool program. After you submit your application, you will be asked to provide additional documentation to confirm your child’s eligibility.

In Kent County, 4-year-olds have two no-cost early learning options. GSRP is open to all children who turn 4 by December 1, with no income requirements.

If you have additional questions about programming, and for open house dates, visit the Kent ISD Free PreK webpage.
